I cringed noticing 2 problems when I was getting back to this piece. I had botched the scale of many of the leaves previously, and the far bank needed darkening. A good scrape back and reworking is what we're seeing here, and a pair of before and afters are just below. I am hoping to rework the water next, and will update again before long.

September starts to signal "early autumn," and this grouping of Basswood trees puts on a great display by being among the first leaves to turn and then begin to fall. Their Maple neighbors have a very different opinion of September, and the mix is fun to watch. Here is my easel at work early on in "the show."
