This was my third early autumn with these Basswood trees, and it's fun to see how similar and different they are from one year to another. I began a reworking of the water towards the early season version of itself, but was stalled by nearly 2 weeks of clouds. When the sun returned, it had progressed to the later season version that was painted previously. I'll just have to wait until Autmn returns again to finish that along with painting the foreground.

September starts to signal "early autumn," and this grouping of Basswood trees puts on a great display by being among the first leaves to turn and then begin to fall. Their Maple neighbors have a very different opinion of September, and the mix is fun to watch. Here is my easel at work as "the show" for the year has come to its peaceful ending.
