The subject of this plein air painting is our backyard, and a sample of the comings and goings that have been a delight for our family. The robin on the left was painted immediately after it struck this pose. The others were from accumulated memories, the kind of "study" that just makes you smile. The piece evolved in a relaxed manner over 3 summers, on evenings when my family could endure a late dinner.
