Here is my summer morning plein air painting in progress. In this phase, you can see both the wash painting and the actual painting of the forest floor. The dapples of sun only appear briefly, but they tell both the time (10:30) and do a lot to deliver the mood of the morning. This park has a lot of tranquility, which frees me to really chase after these colors, and I will look forward to spending sunny mornings with it again next summer.

My affection for Beech trees has been growing. They have such a remarkable look to them, and a nobility that can't be missed. The tranquility in this park is so nice. The trickling streams from the springs on the mountain, and the bird songs really make the artist happy while asking: "So, what are the colors in that tree trunk again?"
