It was another good season on this September - October piece. The upper right forest is unfinished, and the water is asking me for some refinements, and more looks at it in September are what's needed. This has all gotten me more familiar with this time of year, who exactly turns first and which leaves fall first. And that is the subject of this painting, that first turning, and the flavors of all the colors at that time of year.

Here is my easel at work in early September, and we can all chuckle about the fact that the rounder rocks in my painting have indeed rolled ... We do have high water events that rearrange things, and my approach is to leave what I have where I like it, and add any newcomers that are making a good impression : >)
