Two seasons have now been completed on this late summer /early fall plein air painting. I got to know it better, and have it forming around the late part of the morning. The beauty that this subject displays is a kind of spectacular, which is both inspiring and a little intimidating. I am doing my best to remember to stay calm, breathe, trust what I'm seeing, and try ... I'll hope to do more of that next year : >)

Figuring out the light and shade patterns I most responded to ... okay, small detail but funny story, I loved these little wild black-eyed Susans which were really there just like this. I couldn't believe they hadn't been eaten by deer because they don't last in my own yard, but I was looking forward to painting their leaves when the beam of sun would hit them. We had a good rain and the little plant keeled over from its newest biggest-ever self ... but wet : >( I will hope the roots got enough nourishment to grow back again next year : >)
