Phases 8, 9, and 10 show that I painted these rocks in the water during a mostly low-flow season, whereas this last spring consistently had a higher flow. It's a little funny that it didn't occur to me before that I wouldn't be able to reconcile those two different realities in one painting, and so not much water was painted this year. I was able to finish the lower left rocks on this one though, and now have the happy inspiration to start a new canvas next year for the high-flow days. It's so nice how in painting, a "problem" can just lead to more painting : >)
