Welcome Spring
link to the painting summers end sparkles in progress Here is a special page to animate the two phases of this plein air painting. If you click on the enlargement you can go back and forth between the two seasons. I"ll add some more recent versions from this year soon. Hope you like it.

Here is a plein air painting from September. This shaft of late afternoon sun appears between two large trees, making for a short display of about 45 minutes. So, even though this was only an 8 x 10, it took about 8 sessions. The good news was that it gave me lots of opportunities to choose from new flowers each time : >)

link to painting titled lilies Here is a painting of my wife Susan. Her name means "Lily", so it's titled "Lilies."
Here is a plein air painting that was a while in the making. It took 3 and a half summers. While it was indeed a headache and a neckache, it was also a true joy, and I would not trade the many afternoons with these trees back: "Up," 48 x 36. link to the painting titled up
link to the painting titled after the rain

I'd always wanted to paint my stream after a rain because of the unique "milky coffee" colors of the water. I got two good chances back at the beginning of summer. This was 3 sessions I think, and two different rains.
