I'm just getting this piece underway, but my experience with the subject was love at first sight. The poison ivy is pretty healthy in the left foreground of this photo, but I have have a good eye for the stuff and have done well with stepping over and around it so far.

If this were a hotel, they could not advertise "ample parking." I don't mind though, because the view is really worth it. It will be slightly miraculous if I finish this piece without falling in : >)

I know I will be at this painting for quite some time, given the size and experience with my own pacing, but I'm all in for this one. There is so much that I love about this experience with the moving water and the drama with the light. I'm still getting a sense for the "when" of it. The sun is moving away from this point of view, so the crack of sun between the trees creeps forward as the afternoon moves along. I've narrowed it to within 3:00 and 3:30, but will enjoy the time in getting to know it even better.
